Elvis Presley among candidates for governor of Arkansas

Some wary minds might be surprised to see the King of Rock and Roll on their ballots.

Arkansas’ gubernatorial contest features a host of candidates, including former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Elvis Presley. This Presley, who shares the name with the late singer, is a resident of Star City, Arkansas. He ran for the seat in 2010 and also for the 1st congressional district seat in 2018. This time around, he is running as a write-in candidate.

Sanders, a Republican primary candidate, carries the endorsement of former President Donald Trump. Her father, Mike Huckabee, previously served as the state’s governor. Talk show host Francis “Doc” Washburn is also aiming for the Republican nomination.
